Welcome

Fike’s Index is for curious professionals and students who want a quick way to stay in the know on AI, especially what’s happening on the continent. Whether you’re working a 9–5, building something, or just paying attention to where things are going, then you’re in the right place.

Every two weeks, I share the most interesting news in AI from across Africa:

Who’s building in AI and what they are working on, policy shifts worth tracking, ethical questions we should be asking and what all of it means for the future of work. Plus: a curated list of the things that caught my attention—on the internet or IRL.

About me ✨

Hi, I’m Fike, a lawyer-turned Product Manager and the founder of The Kumu Circle, a global community for ambitious African women.

I created this newsletter because I wanted an Africa-focused resource in a format that didn’t exist. I consume a lot of AI content, but most of the content is Western by default. Meanwhile, Africa is building, creating policy, and asking the ethical questions, too. I wanted a place to spotlight that.

I’m big on curation. If you like my weekly reading lists on TikTok, you’ll feel right at home here.
